⛔ Key restrictions in the operator’s own policyRepresentative centre (Victoria West Community Centre): renters must demonstrate proof of insurance indemnifying the association for public-invited events, multi-day workshops/retreats/events, and events including liquor and/or food sales; the City of Victoria offers Community Centre renter insurance for events. A $25/hour staff surcharge applies after 8:00 pm Mon–Fri and after 5:00 pm Sat–Sun, and to rentals outside regular operating hours. No confetti or glitter permitted; the City of Victoria Noise By-Law (in effect 11:00 pm–8:00 am) is strictly adhered to; a $250 damage deposit may be required for events over 75 people or any event where alcohol is served; cooking that produces grease-laden vapours is prohibited in the kitchen. The City also operates NeighbourSpace (708 Douglas Street) free of charge for residents and non-profits, with for-profit, political, admission-charging and recreational activities ineligible (victoria.ca).
